Twisted (Tangled #2) by Emma Chase

Twisted (Tangled, #2)

I have to admit - I was nervous about reading this book. I loved the first book, and was glad how things ended with Drew and Kate - I really didn't think another book needed to be written about them. Well, I can admit when I'm wrong - and I was so wrong thinking they didn't have more of a story to tell.

I don't want to give much of the story away with the review - but let me just say, in typical Drew fashion - you will be wanting to knock him up-side the head, or maybe kick him in the junk.  But, Kate isn't totally off the hook here in the issues that arise in their relationship. Misunderstandings, assumptions and a lack of communication create a firestorm for them.

This book is told from Kate's POV, unlike Drew's in the first book - but have no fear, you still get all the crazy family and friends, all the funny jabs at each other, a few tears and of course - lots of money for the swear jar! The epilogue is pure Drew and from his POV - and the perfect way to end the story, especially seeing as he always has to have the last word!

Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott

Play (Stage Dive, #2)

Let me make one thing perfectly clear before I start my review.

How can you not absolutely love him?

Mal is like a steamroller in the best possible way.  He's a come in, take care, take charge and takeover kind of person, add in the funniest personality, and you just cannot say no to him.  Don't believe me - just ask Anne.  Because that is exactly what he did to her - leaving her with her head spinning and heart reeling.

Anne tries to establish some boundaries with Mal - and being the kind of guy he is, he usually agrees, only after he's crossed them.  He knows "pumpkin" (his hideous pet-name for her that drives her crazy!) - only has "crazy eyes" for him (because he always checks when she meets a new guy) and talks her into a crazy idea!  Anne is just a little wary of Mal's "agreement" - mostly because she's had a crush on him for years, and she's afraid of how it all will affect her heart in the end.

This book has it all......

A Broken Bed!

A Flood!

Mal and his deep talks with her body parts and his...

"...concern with regards to the harsh and unyielding
nature of your shirt."

Oh, and last but not least - we have...

a "KILLER" puppy.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of this book, and couldn't put it down - there were so many parts that made me smile and laugh, and one or two that broke my heart.  Mal and Anne were truly a pair - their personalities complimenting each other - and when they finally gave it all to each other, the perfect person to help get through the difficulties that life sometimes throws at all of us.  I can't say enough about this book - I loved the first in this series, but now I think this one is my favorite - at least until then next comes out!

Dominic (Slater Brothers #1) by L.A. Casey

Dominic (Slater Brothers, #1)
After a car accident killed her parents when she was a child, Bronagh Murphy chose to box herself off from people in an effort to keep herself from future hurt. If she doesn't befriend people, talk to them or acknowledge them in any way they leave her alone just like she wants.

When Dominic Slater enters her life, ignoring him is all she has to do to get his attention. Dominic is used to attention, and when he and his brothers move to Dublin, Ireland for family business, he gets nothing but attention. Attention from everyone except the beautiful brunette with a sharp tongue.

Dominic wants Bronagh and the only way he can get to her, is by dragging her from the boxed off corner she has herself trapped in the only way he knows how...by force.

Dominic wants her, and what Dominic wants, Dominic gets.

Bronagh always kept to herself in school - making no friends, and keeping herself closed off.  She was being raised by her older sister because her parents were killed years ago.  She keeps closed off because she is not going to take the risk of losing another person that she loved.

Dominic has just moved to Dublin, Ireland with his brothers from America.  No one really knows about his past and what his brothers do.  When Dominic enters Bronaghs class after the start of her senior year, that's when the trouble really starts for her because these two together are like oil and water.

After these two finally got on the same page with their feelings, there were really a lot of sweet moments, mixed in with all the cocky comebacks.
"You live me? You said the word live, Dominic?"

"I more than like you, but don't feel near love yet, so I put the word love and like together and got live, so I live you. I'm in live with you, pretty girl."

"Dominic, I live you too."
But things don't always go smoothly - the brother's family business catches up with them, and Bronagh must decide whether she'll look the other way like her sister has decided to do - or walk away and not risk the possible dangers with Dominic.
I usually like stories with older characters and I did have to continually remind myself that these two were only 18 years old, and basically raised by siblings that weren't much older than them, and that is why they acted so immature to each other.  Once I kept that in mind, I enjoyed the story of these two young people, and how Bronagh finally let go and open herself up to friendships and love.

Finally Home (Home #4) by Ann Vaughn

Finally Home
I have to start by saying that Ann Vaughn has become a must read author for me.  I have loved all the books in her Home Series - and Finally Home was a beautiful ending for a man who has been haunted for years with the memories of his 12 hours in captivity while he was serving in the military.

Lainey and Mike saw each other for the first time when she was 17 at the Founder's Ball - but at the time he was too old for her, and he was getting to leave and serve his country.  But fate has a way of stirring up lives - and almost ten years later it's Mike who will be helping Lainey as she tries to stay safe from an ex-patient who has turned into a stalker.

Mike tries to keep his feelings for Lainey in check, but it's very difficult, because she has always been on his mind over the years.  He has kept a lot of his past to himself - his family not even knowing what happened while in captivity.  Lainey wants to help Mike heal, especially while they grow closer as Mike protects her from the stalker.  Mike just doesn't know how to let it all go - and trust her with all his demons.

And this is what I love about Ann Vaughn and her writing - you not only get the beautiful romance and love story, you also get some great bam-bam, and some serious grit.  Anne does not hold back from describing what happened to Mike in Captivity - and it will totally break your heart.  But sometimes getting the things off our chest, that torture us the most, and letting others take some the burden - is the best kind of therapy.

Hammer's Fall (Breaker's Bad Boys #1) by Laurie Roma

Hammer's Fall
Let me just say that this is going to be a great series if the rest of the books are as good as this book and the rest of the guys are as HOT as Hammer is - and I'm pretty sure they are going to be.

Hammer, or Jared as Kali calls him, will have you all tied up in knots.  Not only is he an ex-Army Ranger, he's an ex-MMA fighter and now owns his own gym, that is also a rehab facility for injured vets.  But those aren't his only good qualities - oh no - he's tall, tattooed, alpha, sexy, thoughtful, stands up for his woman, loves puppies - and best of all, he knows how to use his Hammer - LOL!!

But seriously, I loved this story from start to finish.  Hammer knew he wanted and Kali and when the opportunity arose, he took it and made his move.  Even with her insecurities - he made sure she always knew where she stood with him - and how he felt about her.  He always looked out for her, even not letting her take any criticism from her family and ex-boyfriend.  I also loved getting to know all the other family members and friends of both Kali and Hammer - and am looking forward to more books in this series for sure!

I'll Take a Chance (Running Into Love #2) by Annalisa Nicole

I'll Take A Chance (Running into Love Book 2)

I really enjoyed this story about two people finding each other unexpectedly and taking the chance at being happy and starting a new relationship.  Amelia is still dealing with the hurt her ex caused by his words and actions, and Kyle has been denying himself happiness since his twin sister disappeared.  They were the perfect pairing.

I could really feel how much Kyle was interested in seeing Amelia, wanting to spend as much time as possible together, but not wanting to move to fast and scare Amelia. The excitement of a new relationship and all those "butterfly" feelings between the two was fun to experience.  But just because there were alot of sweet moments - there were just as many hot, sexy moments that had me all hot and bothered!

Amelie was such a down to earth girl, you couldn't helf loving her and Kyle was definitely a catch - and he proved his loyalty and love throughout all the ups and downs that happened even at the beginning of their relationship.  It was good to get to know their other family members too - and I think I may have to go back and read the first book in this series - because I am surely looking forward to the next book about Adrian and Shay.
