A Reason to Kill (Reason #2) by C.P. Smith - @CPSmith63

A Reason to Kill (Reason, #2)

Perfection!! - C.P. Smith gets everything right in this book, and then some.  Besides the story line that had me smiling and intrigued - you couldn't ask for better characters in a book.  All of the people, not just Max & Mia - you just wanted to be around everyone and get to know them all.

Max was Alpha perfection.  He had the perfect amount of bossiness.  He knew the moment he saw Mia she was going to be "a pain in his ass" - but in the good way of course.  The way Max took care of her, and treated Mia made me swoon.  But, I think I loved Max most for the relationship that he had with his mother.  Their conversations together kept a smile on my face and warmth in my heart for the love they shared as mother and son.

Mia, where to begin with her?  She was one of a kind.  You couldn't help but love all her antics, she was funny, sweet, caring and you just wanted to have a drink with her, sing some karaoke and just basically hang out with her.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, A Reason to Breathe, in this series, and wondered how C.P. Smith could top that story, but she did.  You can not go wrong at all with this book - I absolutely ADORED this story - and will probably reread in the near future.  C.P. Smith, please write the next book fast!  Now, off to pack because I'm  moving to Alaska.

Hard to Come By (Hard Ink #3) by Laura Kaye - @laurakayeauthor

Hard to Come By (Hard Ink, #3)

If you love a fast paced romantic suspense, with lots of action - in more ways than one, then you definitely need to be reading this series.  You can't help but fall in love with all these 'damaged' ex-military men, who are trying to clear their names, and help others out along the way.

I fell for Derek right away.  Besides be a great dirty talker,  he had such a great personality and tried to keep things light.  Even with everything he faced in his past and the things coming at him now, he always seemed to stay positive.  He deserved to find his happiness - and Emilie was perfect for him.  I couldn't help but hope for the best for them, especially when their relationship hit a few bumps.

This is definitely one of my favorite romantic suspense series, it always leaves me wanting more - and I look forward to the next book, as I try and figure out exactly where everything will end up.

Fighting the Fall (Fighting #4) by J.B. Salsbury - @JBSalsbury

Fighting the Fall (Fighting, #4)
This series is one of those for me that I can’t wait for the next book out, can’t wait to devour the story, and then can’t wait until the next story is out so I can get more of the stories of all these awesome characters.  It’s a vicious cycle that I can’t help, but totally love.

I was waiting for Eve’s story so bad.  We’ve had bits of her from being Raven’s best friend and now we finally get the whole story, and truly get to see her.  I wasn’t sure how I was going to totally feel about her, but I fell in love with her strength, her honesty, her ability to still put herself out there and take a chance, and especially her ability to keep going on, even if it felt like she never got a break.

Cam I don’t even know where to begin with him.  I guess my best word to describe him is tortured.  He broke my heart, made me proud, made me fall in love with him and he even pissed me off a few times.  But, I have to say that with him, I got it.  I understood why he acted certain ways and did the things he did.

Both Eve and Cam have such damaged pasts, heavy baggage, that they both carry.  Their pain is a constant in their lives but they both handle it and carry it differently, but you can totally see how it has defined who they are right now.  They just need to get on the same page, and let them help each other heal and move forward.

I really could not put this book down.  There was a little angst, as things were not easy between Cam and Eve, but I still adored both of them.  This book also gives us a lot of great secondary characters.  Of course we get to see Jonah and Raven a little Blake and Layla but my favorites were definitely Ryder Cam’s son, and even Cam’s ex-wife will surprise how you feel about her in the end.  You’ll even fall in love with another special girl in Cam’s life.  Loved this story and how it all came together in the end!

Now, onto waiting for the next book.

Charleston Past Midnight by Christine Edwards - @ceerotica

Charleston Past Midnight
I'm not a typical "paranormal - vampire" reading type of girl - but after reading this book, I may be changing my reading selections!  From the moment this book started, it totally grabbed my attention and had me wrapped up in it.

I adored Calla - she had an inner strength to face whatever was thrown at her, and best yet, lots of spunk.  She knew exactly when to give in and let Severin, take control - because she would definitely be benefitting from his control, and she knew from the beginning he would always keep her safe.
Severin was exactly what I pictured a vampire to be.  I was glad we got his back story and how he became a vampire, along with the relationship that came about with Calla.  All I kept thinking is that he can "glamour" me any time!

This was a great fast paced read full of action, vampire lore and lots of hot steamy moments for sure.  Christine Edwards absolutely knows how to write the perfect dominant man.  If you haven't had a chance to read her other books, you are missing out, and you need to immediately go and give one a try - you will not be disappointed!

Full Contact (Worth the Fight #2) by Sidney Halston - @sidneyhalston

Full Contact (Worth the Fight, #2)
I absolutely loved, loved this book.  Slade and Jessica's relationship felt so authentic, more realistic - moving in real time instead of lightning speed, which some romances seem to be.  Their kidding and playful joking around, either when they were in bed or just hanging out together - just sealed the deal for me as to how perfect their personalities were for each other.

Slade was perfection.  He may have once been a true playboy - when he first helped Jessica those playboy days were over - he was all in for her.

It did take a little more convincing and learning to trust on Jessica's part.  She is fresh from an abusive relationship, and even though she's definitely attracted to Slade, she is scared.  So what does Slade do to help convince her he's serious - he takes things slow, he shows her how he can be a gentlemen, he's serious about her.  I had to laugh, because while this was what she thought she wanted - it wasn't what she needed - but she was quick to tell him exactly what she needed.
Oh man - I was yelling "Amen, sister - that's what I want!!!"

Unfortunately Jessica's past still comes back to haunt her, and to protect the people she cares about, she makes decisions that cause a lot of pain - even to herself.  Luckily Slade is not one to totally give up, and she finds that she does have a friend or two that she can turn to for help.

I really couldn't get enough of these two - and I'm still chuckling at some of the funny things that Slade and Jessica said to each other. I enjoyed Against the Cage, but I have to say I totally adored Worth the Fight.  Definitely worth your time reading.

Brody (Bang Shift #1) by Mandy Harbin - @mandy_harbin

Brody: The Bang Shift Series
Xan and her son have been hiding, for the past ten years, from her ex-husband even though he is currently in jail for trying to kill her.  With help from the FBI she's been able to elude him and his family.  But, he's soon up for parole, and she's getting scared that once again she will have to pick up and move again, and her life will once again be put in danger even more so that he is out of jail.  The FBI is sure they can protect her - they have "people" helping to watch her and her son - trying to keep them safe.

Out of all the hot, sexy mechanics in the garage - who are also undercover mercenaries - Brody is the one assigned to keep an eye on Xan.  He does not want this job - she's going to be a problem, not only is he attracted to her, but she seems familiar to him and he can't place her.  He keeps her at arms length for as long as possible, until the attraction between them is too much.  Between keeping her and her son safe, falling for her, and slowly learning more about his past, and the people in his present life that he trusted - everything seems to just blow up.

I have to say that I am a total sucker for a hot romantic suspense story - and that is exactly what I got with Brody.  I loved Xan.  She was a fierce, strong woman - doing what was needed to keep her and her son safe from her ex.  Her son, Scott, was always her main concern - and she was a great mom.  And Brody, he was just the right amount of damaged - yet trying to make a better life for himself.  He tried his hardest to stay away from Xan, but the feelings and connection between these two was not to be denied.  Brody always tried to be as honest as he possibly could with Xan - even with the situation they were both in.

As with any suspense story - I don't want to give too much of the plot away - but I truly loved this book.  The relationship between Xan and Brody was scorching hot - and the story line had me guessing until almost the very end who was telling the truth and who wasn't - and how everyone was involved and what parts they all played.  I am so looking forward to see which sexy mechanic the next story will be about.
