Taking the Heat (Selected Sinners MC #2) by Scott Hildreth - @ScottDHildreth

Damn, with the way this book started out - I was wondering where the heck it was going to go.  That was one sex scene I had never read before!  You may start off the book not really caring for Toad, actually I'm pretty sure of it - but that will be short lived.  You will grow to love the man that he truly is, deep down - the true giver and compassionate man that he is.

Then you will meet Sidney and totally admire her ability to persevere through what she's been dealt with in life.  She doesn't pity herself, and circumstances or expect handouts.  Nope, she works for what she has, makes the best of all of it - and in the process makes others around her be better.

Toad and Sidney, both broken people, are beautiful together - perfectly matched, and watching their relationship grow, felt believable and not rushed.

I'm so in love with this series.  I just enjoy all the main and secondary characters in the story - they have so much personality and even if they have small roles, they have a great impact.  But, I think the main reason for my enjoyment of this series is mostly due to Scott's ability to make you feel and think with his writing.  The words of inspiration he writes and weaves into the story - that will somehow pertain and reflect in your own life and circumstances, always leave me thinking and feeling.  I'm totally hooked.

Fireman Edition (Standard Romance Story #1) by M.S. Willis - @mswillisbooks

Bear with me as I try to wrap my mind around the fact that same author who wrote this wonderfully light and funny story - also is the same person who wrote the darker Estate series (which I love by the way!).  But she did, and let me tell you I'm totally hooked.

 The idea of this series is perfect - and so true.  All these "perfect" men and situations we read about - are really just stories, not real life, but they suck us in and make us hope.  Jane is going to test all our book boyfriends out.  She's going to see if it's all true or more so, possible for us to have what we read about.  She is us - just a regular woman, living a regular life.  She places and ad about what she wants to accomplish, and that is where all the fun begins.

 This book starts with the fireman.... and let me say you will laugh, think that this could be you on this date, and wonder if he will be "the one".  I know I did, and I was so sad when their date was over, because now I have to wait for the next date and book.  This series has me hooked with book one - and I'm ready for the crazy ride ahead.

Isolated (Evan Arden #4) by Shay Savage - @savage7289

I WANT MORE!!! I love Evan, and after getting this small dose of him again, makes me realize how much I've missed him. I'm totally hooked again, and after devouring this book I am going to be waiting on pins and needles until the rest of Evan's story plays out. Shay.... please write faster!!!

Beneath Series by Tori Madison - @AuthorToriMadis

     

This series is one that has been on my tbr list for awhile.  It's one of those series that had me wanting to read it so badly, but I was scared at all the emotions that it would make me feel while I read it.  And, I was right - it did make me feel everything.  I cried, I laughed, I ached, I cheered,  my heart broke and rejoiced and best of all I felt hope.

 

I could never say enough wonderful things about Victoria.  She faced head on, not only the cancer that invaded her life and body - but the loss of the one person that she truly thought she could rely upon.  She faced it all with courage, and grace even amidst the fear.  Luckily for her, she was blessed to have the support of three wonderful woman and parents who loved and cared for her whole-heartedly, along with amazing doctors who helped her through her "journey".

I'd encourage anyone to read this book and experience the journey that Victoria went on.  Ride the wave of her highs and lows, her diagnosis and recovery, losing love and finding it again but even better.   This book was so inspirational for me, and I know I'm glad I finally took the ride and read these books.

To the Max (Bowen #3) by Elle Aycart

    

I enjoyed this story of Max and Annie so much.  These two together we're perfection.  Max was just what Annie needed, and their personalities just complimented each other just right.  I loved watching Max fall for Annie, and her baby - and of course there were many moments that left me laughing at their interactions with each other.  I even learned a new word that I think a lot of us could use to describe these wonderful books we all read..."Cliterature".

I do also have to say that even though Nate Bowen (Max's dad) isn't in the story a lot, his parts in the book totally had me falling for the wonderful man/father that he was and is.  No wonder all the Bowen’s are keepers!  So looking forward to Jack's story, I have a feeling it's gonna be smoking hot!

Worth the Risk (The McKinney Brothers #2) by Claudia Connor - @Claudia__Connor

I liked Hannah instantly.  I loved what she did for a living, and the care and love she had for the people that she helped.  How she took what she was handed in life and made something good out of it.  It also helped that she has some hot, protective brothers looking out for her!

Stephen was hard to like at first, but I have to say he did grow on me.  He isn't one of those perfect Alpha males - and to be honest, I still like his brother Matt better.  This doesn't mean he was a bad person, he just let what happened with his finance harden him, and his walls were harder to break down.

Stephen and Hannah's relationship is not easy, and it really takes some hard work on both parts to get through it all.  I seriously wondered if they would make it at times.  But, have no fear, you will get your HEA - and included in that you get more of Matt, Abby and all the kids and other family members.  Once again, looking forward to the next McKinney's story.

Making the Cut (Selected Sinners MC #1) by S.D. Hildreth - @ScottDHildreth

I'm not sure where to begin.  This really isn't your typical MC story, yet it was.  There was some gritty biker business taken care of.  There was some big, bad, rough, mean, sexy bikers.  There was also romance, but not what you would expect.  There was no insta-love, no wham-bamm, and thankfully, no club whores - but there was the building of a relationship over time.  There was...progress.

I loved just about everything with Avery and yes, Axton.  Avery was who she was, and even though she was a little insecure - she knew what she wanted, knew how to get it - and stuck with her plan to get there.  I loved her moments of insight and internal conversations with herself, and I enjoyed her sense of humor.  She was persistent, strong, and yes, even cute.  Even with her chances being "slim to none", she persevered.  

The best part about Axton, was how he was with Avery.  That he never expected a relationship from her, but just took his time with her, yet never led her on.  She came from out of nowhere, and into his life, and ended up being someone who became and integral part of world.  Don't get me wrong though, he wasn't changing for her, he's not "flowers and cards" - he's just exactly who he puts out there - he's a biker through and through, that comes first.  He's a lot rough and doesn't put up with shit - take it or leave it, and trust me - you will take it!

This is the third Scott Hildreth book I've read, and each one has been drastically different from the others.  And even though they are all different, the common element is that each story has grabbed hold of me, and totally kept me wrapped up in the book, not wanting to get up until the story is finished.  Each books characters are so complex, yet easy to know and like.  You feel like you know their actual personalities, get how they talk -as if you can hear them saying the words in the book to you.  You can really picture them, their stance, their walk.  And even more, the characters somehow give you some insight-some statement made from something happening in the story, that makes you think and consider things differently.  As with Finding Parker and Karter, I totally loved Making the Cut and cannot wait until the next book comes out.  Give one of these books a chance, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
